Dr. Lucas Blankenship PT, DPT

Dr. Lucas Blankenship is a Raleigh, NC resident hailing from Roanoke, Virginia where he grew up and completed his schooling. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Radford University (2022), and received his undergraduate degree from Hampden-Sydney College (2019) summa cum laude (Roll Tigers!).

Lucas grew up as a multi-sport athlete playing soccer, basketball, and baseball year-round before eventually focusing his efforts on soccer leading to a recruitment to play D3 soccer at Hampden-Sydney College for 2 years before switching to club rugby.

After college he dove into the world of competitive strength sports, achieving a 1st place win at his first powerlifting competition as well as earning top 5 finishes in multiple strongman competitions all while completing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Lucas’ passion is for helping active adults learn more about their own bodies and empower them to take control of their health through strength training and exercise.

Lucas’ professional career truly began in his final year of PT school where he spent his final clinical rotation in a Level 1 Trauma Center in Virginia during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each day consisted of sweaty, nerve-wracking work mobilizing patients on ventilators and other life-prolonging machinery.

He has since gone on to spend years in the hospitals of Virginia and North Carolina working with individuals from all walks of life.

His mission is now to combine his knowledge and experience from both the medical and strength training worlds to present a complete physical therapist package to active adults who are ready to take agency over their health.

Lucas lives with his fiancé, Erica, and their two fur babies, Luna (dog) and Sushi (cat) in their home in Raleigh. They enjoy all things active and outdoors and both still participate in the occasional strongman competition.
